Dr. Brotea's dual engineering and medical background offer a unique insight into spinal diseases. He specializes in the conservative and surgical evaluation and treatment of upper and lower back problems including sports and work related injuries, disc herniations, vertebral fractures, scoliosis and arthritic and degenerative spine diseases of the neck and back. Dr. Brotea treats patients of all ages ranging from children and adolescents with spine problems such as scoliosis to older individuals with osteoporotic vertebral fractures.
At the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Brotea was part of a team which included world-renowned spine neurosurgeons and orthopaedics surgeons. He has extensive training in complex spine instrumentation as well as handling spine related tumors and infections. Dr. Brotea also has experience with some of the newest spine surgical interventions including kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty, special minimally invasive surgical techniques with the ability to perform major spine procedures through much smaller incisions, as well as the just recently FDA approved cervical and lumbar disc replacements.
